Cisco and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) announced the first laboratory for training and research in the new Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) in Hungary.

Located at the Department of Telecommunications at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, the lab is an integral part of an international network of IPv6 training and research facilities and is connected to some 20 similar centers around the globe. Cisco donated the lab’s networking and communications equipment.

Cisco y la Universidad de Tecnología y Economía (BME) anuncian el primer laboratorio para formación e investigación del nuevo Protocolo de Internet versión 6 (IPv6) en Hungría.

Ubicado en el Departamento de Telecomunicaciones de la Facultad de Ingeniería Electrónica e Informática, el laboratorio está integrado en una red internacional para la formación IPv6 y facilidades de investigación y esta conectado con otros 20 centros similares alrededor del mundo. Cisco ha donado el equipamiento de redes y comunicaciones del laboratorio.

Next 13th September, a series of 20 theoretical and hands-on IPv6 training sessions (in Spanish only) will start in Madrid, as part of the Spanish Government transition plan to the new Internet Protocol, signed by the Council of Ministers last 29th April.

This will be followed by sessions in Barcelona, Valencia, León, Zaragoza, Santander, Bilbao, Logroño, Pamplona, Mérida, Ceuta, Murcia, Seville, Málaga, Las Palmas, Toledo, Palma de Mallorca, Santiago de Compostela and Oviedo.

El próximo 13 de Septiembre se inicia en Madrid el ciclo de jornadas teórico-prácticas de formación de IPv6 (en castellano), como parte del plan del Gobierno Español para la transición al nuevo Protocolo de Internet, firmado por el Consejo de Ministros el pasado 29 de Abril.

Este ciclo de jornadas, continuará en Barcelona, Valencia, León, Zaragoza, Santander, Bilbao, Logroño, Pamplona, Mérida, Ceuta, Murcia, Sevilla, Málaga, Las Palmas, Toledo, Palma de Mallorca, Santiago de Compostela y Oviedo.

Publication of the Spanish Council of Ministers Agreement of 29th of April 2011, which approves the Development Plan form the Deployment of the IPv6 Protocol in Spain.

This survey is designed by GNKS Consult in collaboration with TNO and RIPE NCC, based on a design originally by ARIN/CAIDA in 2008, and has been carried out in 2009 with the support of RIPE NCC and APNIC, and globally, with support from RIPE NCC, APNIC, ARIN, LACNIC and AfriNIC, in 2010.

On Friday 29th April 2011, the Spanish Council of Ministers has approved the Master Plan for the National transition to IPv6, with the cooperation of all the public administrations.

The Plan includes 10 points covering all the aspects required for the public administrations to tackle the IPv4 exhaustion problem with a firm commitment for the deployment of IPv6, including eGovernment services, and the cooperation with private organisations in order to make sure that IPv6 is deployed in every network in the country.

In the next months a free training program will be provided in the 20 major Spanish cities.
The summary of the Plan is published in the Moncloa web site. Also an official IPv6 web site has been released which will include further contents in the next weeks.
