LACNIC XIII will be in Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles from May 16 to May 21, 2010 at the World Trade Center Curaçao and will be hosted by the Bureau Telecommunications and Post (BT&P) and the Caribbean Internet Exchange (CAR-IX). Willemstad City will be the meeting place for representatives of different sectors of the Latin American and Caribbean Internet community, academia, civil society, ISPs, telecommunications industry leaders, governments, ccTLDs, NAPs and others. LACNIC XIII will be provided a framework for debates on the Internet issues that are of interest and concern to the region, theoretical and practical workshops, forums, assemblies, etc. The results of these meetings are materialized in concrete actions, be it the definition of policies for Internet resource distribution within the region, such as regional interconnection project initiatives, or the creation of working groups for providing information on IPv6 and promoting its adoption. | ||

Ireland's IPv6 Task Force is hosting the second IPv6 Summit, an all-day event at Dublin Castle, on Wednesday 19th May 2010. The 2010 event hopes to raise awareness within the Irish private and public sectors about the immediate need for IPv6 deployment. The Internet as we know it running out of space due to massive Internet growth in developing nations and increased mobile internet usage! Predictions indicate IPv4 addresses will run out by September 2011, how will this impact Irish economic areas of activity which rely on the Internet for growth? Anyone serious about ICT planning, and about broadband deployment, needs to be aware of these issues to plan for IPv6 deployment effectively! The field ‘Total Lengh’which is part of the IPv4 header, is not found in the IPv6 header. Its function was to count the size of the packet payload plus the size of a variable lenght header. As the IPv6 header has a fixed size, the presence of this field is unnecessary.
